About Us

-Background

In 2019, School Mental Health Program (SMHP) was added as the 6th flagship program of Oplan Kalusugan sa DepED (OK sa DepED). This focuses on the decree of the Department of Education under the Republic Act No. 11036, otherwise known as the “Mental health Act”. With this mandate, the WE CARE Program was formulated and breathed into life with the aid of a few partnerships such as the Philippine Mental health Association – who conducted an exclusive training for the SMHP Technical Working Group in 2020 and helped in drafting a manual to be utilized in all public schools of the Division. The WE CARE Program (wellness, engagement, coordination, advocacy, resilience, and education) is a local proprietary program of the Schools Division Office of Quezon City particularly the School Mental Health Program of the School Health Section. It focuses on the core components of the following – Prevention/Education, Assessment, Early Intervention, and Referral.

- Vision

A Division where the entire school populace is lessened, if not free, of social stigma on individuals who seek help for mental health issues, significantly reduced cases of mental health disturbances, and have an easy access to mental health services.

- Mission

To educate, assess, and protect the mental well-being of the entire school populace with sustainable and integrated interventions for a stress-free learning and working environment.

Community Spirit Shines at Successful 2024 Brigada Eskwela Kick-Off at North Fairview High School

The 2024 Brigada Eskwela kick-off at North Fairview High School was a huge success, living up to the motto "Bayanihan para sa Matatag na Paaralan". This event showcased the community's collective effort to prepare for the opening of classes this school year.

Dr. Johnny Obierna, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent (ASDS), Mr. Philip Austria, Mr. Noel Delos Reyes, Ms. Angelyn Malabanan, Ms. Gina Hibionada, and the hard-working staff of the Schools Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) attended the event. Their presence underscored the importance of collaboration and support in the educational sector.

Thank you to our volunteers and stakeholders from the school community. Their diligence and commitment were crucial to making this project a success. Program Brigada Eskwela is a testament to the power of community spirit and shared responsibility in fostering a better learning environment.

Quezon City Officials & Secretary Angara Distribute Learning Supplies to Commonwealth Elementary Students

Schools Division Office of Quezon City Leads Successful Brigada Eskwela Event at Bagong Silangan High School

The Brigada Eskwela event held this Saturday at Bagong Silangan High School saw significant participation from various government officials, spearheaded by the Schools Division Office of Quezon City.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara graced the occasion, alongside notable personalities including QC Mayor Joy Belmonte, Congressman Ralph Tulfo, Councilor Aly Medalla, MMDA Chairperson Romando Artes, DepEd Usec. Revsee Escobedo, and Regional Director Joyce Andaya. Their collective presence underscored the importance of the initiative aimed at preparing schools for the upcoming academic year.

A significant highlight of the event was the signing of the Pledge of Commitment by the attending officials. This symbolic act reinforced their unwavering support for the education sector and their dedication to fostering a nurturing environment for learners.

The Schools Division Office of Quezon City’s leadership and coordination were crucial in the success of the Brigada Eskwela.
